Choosing a favorite track was a complex endeavor for this one. The whole record exudes a hypnotic beauty, not unlike the works of Dead Can Dance from time to time. Illuminations is one of the best records I've ever heard in this genre and is a must-have in any collection.

much of the dungeon synth found on Bandcamp is closer to Enigma than it is to Burzum. which is fine with me because I think "Sadeness" is a high point of modern musical achievement while I fucking hate nazis. however, most of the artists who create DS with more than a little nod to new age aren't as openly aware of that influence. enter Aura Merlin: the music is soothing and swoony, the textures are syrupy and gentle, and you'll be carried off to naptime on a cloud of lambswool. beautiful stuff!
